How To Train Your Dragon

This is my 1st review of a movie and yes, it’s an animated movie, but bear with me.
The 1st impression a movie will make over anyone is its title and the 2nd might be, and this is sometimes overlooked, its poster. Those are the things that, if you haven’t seen a trailer nor read a synopsis, will persuade you to pick the movie when you get to register at the cinema.
And truth be told, while looking at the title and poster of this movie i have to say i really wasn’t impressed, but after stumbling upon this movie a couple of times i decided go and watch it, without much expectations of it being more than a way to pass time.
I can now say it was the movie that most surprised me in a positive way in 2010, being in my opinion one of the best animated movies of all time, and definitely the best of that year in which other popular animated films premiered.
If you have children or if you like animation movies, you’ll probably like How To Train Your Dragon, which transports you into a Viking land infested with all sorts of Dragons whom terrify the local inhabitants whilst trying to steel all their food and animals.
These Vikings you come to know are despite their appearance and manors quite nice people, with a rich and warrior culture passed from generation to generation with one purpose, to teach young Vikings how to fight these dragons and protect their land. And as we all know, traditions are hard to break but that is exactly what Hiccup, the main character, a small and ingenious boy, will do.
Apart from its good plot and being a very well told story, the movie has other attributes like its amazing animations or the cast chosen to give voice to the characters.
I strongly recommend this movie which is suited not only for children, who will probably love it just because it has awesome fire spitting dragons, but also for adults who will fully appreciate the depth of the story How To Train Your Dragon has to offer.

Rating: 8.8
